Moulton ATB History

One of 361 Moulton ATB frames made between 1988 and 1992.  The Moulton is probably one of the earliest full suspension designs with the leading link type fork and rubber rear suspension.  The smaller 20" wheels made for a stronger wheel but they would fall into "V" shaped ravines much easier than traditional 26" wheels.    The hairpin style frame allowed for a lower top tube which would give more clearance when dismounting, especially useful when riding off-road.  The frame is easily taken apart for transport.  A single tie rod connects the head tube to the bottom bracket.  After removing the head tube bolt, it unscrews from the bottom bracket stud.  The main frame Allen bolt would then be removed and, after disconnecting the cables, the frame would break in two.
